In the Guru Granth Sahib, there are 23 savaiye of Guru Nanak, 15 of Guru Angad, 85 of Guru Ram Ds and 52 of Guru Arjan. This shows that the Gurus were not rejected by the Bhatt takers as personalities. It indicates also that the seven named Gurus are not treated as distinct personalities in the Guru Granth Sahib, they are all treated as one personality and are all being exalted in the kirtan, as such the total number of savaiyye is 123. The number of Savaiyye in the Guru Granth Sahib as a whole is one fifth of the total number of savaiyye in the whole Sikh community. The remainder of the savaiyye in the Guru Granth Sahib was not written by the Bhatt takers. They relied on the oral tradition and the memory of the authors of the various savaiyye for this as they could not read and write. The same is true of Savaiyye written by Bhat Kirat Kalh and Mathur. These Bhatts had no formal education, they relied on memory.

The figure of the Bhatts in the Guru Granth Sahib is to a large extent is a reflection of their relative importance in the sect. Virtually all the savaiye composed by women are of the Bhatti category, female Bhatts. The vast majority of them are in praise of Guru Ram Das, with very few of the women Bhatts in comparison ever singling out Guru Nanak and Guru Angad as their favourite. Even the few Bhatts of the other Bhatti caste whose savaiye is in praise of Guru Nanak and Guru Angad are more in number. The Bhatts also composing the words of the hymns of the Gurus is more in number than the other castes. Of the 123 savaiyes composed by women, 18 are in praise of Guru Ram Das, 5 of Guru Amar Das, 16 of Guru Nanak and 38 of Guru Angad.
