The series was rated PG in the Philippines due to mature content. Almost all of the character names were changed into Filipino names, including Misae becoming Carmen, Masao becoming Boyet, and Mrs. Yoshinaga becoming Pilar Miyumi (or Mayumi or Ryumi).
The film was rated PG in the Philippines due to a scene of a sexual nature involving Misae and Boyet on the staircase. Boyet (whose name also changed from Masao) also goes on to have a romantic relationship with Misae later on.
This DVD has an approximately 5 minutes addition with the scene removed from the TV. This scene is called "Hana-nama Hana-nama", and it has Kaji speaking in English with Coco, his dancing bunny. Kaji sings about how he likes her, and when she says she likes him too, Coco starts taking off her clothes. This short scene in the TV version has not been edited in the DVD version and it is still missing the scene where Kaji and Coco kiss.
