Hovering over all of my points about the title track: It's loud, and a bit of a battle-cry of sorts, a rallying cry that turns into a scream when an acoustic guitar starts playing. The beauty of the song is that it's unabashedly anthemic, a song that could be played over the playing of football scores on late-night television in early-80's America.
It's a love story. It's about two people falling in love, and a bittersweet memory that gets shattered. Therin lies the whole thing about breaking the spell, about falling in love with someone, and realizing that you're not with them for the long-haul, and you can't pretend it won't end.
A deluxe edition of Daughtry's self-titled album was released on September 9. Along with the original CD, this expanded CD/DVD package features four bonus tracks, including acoustic versions of "What About Now," "It's Not Over", and "Home", plus a cover of Foreigner's "Feels Like the First Time". The DVD contains all five of Daughtry's music videos, two rarely seen live clips, and exclusive behind-the-scenes tour footage.
For his 25th birthday, Thomas picked up his first guitar and hammered out songs. The results of these early sessions form the basis of his debut album, Wonderful, Still. The album came out in 1991, when Thomas was 21. d2c66b5586
