The scriptwriter met Ranbir Kapoor a few times and asked him to be a rockstar at some point in the dialogue. This was a very far-fetched idea and the effort on Ranbir Kapoor's part to impress the audience was visible in his acting in the movie.
What most people expect of a rockstar would be a good singer, a good looking and a cool dude, but that's not what differentiates a real rockstar from anybody else. He's different from this with his unique, awesome persona. He has all this to live up to more than anybody else other than by having millions of millions of people focusing on him. When did it become possible for a young kid to become a rockstar? He must've gone through a lot to arrive at this point in his life, and all this on a meager pay scale and he's an international rockstar.
Fora singer from a small town in a conservative country, to become a rockstar etc. It was a dream for any kid who wanted to be a rockstar. Throughout this movie, Ranbir Kapoor gets better actors to talk about him, his music, his lifestyle and the fans. Javed Akhtar talks about Shashi Kapoor's funeral. The cast talks about how much they were mistreated by many rockstars before they made it, and how the protagonists are now on top of the pile.
The scriptwriter asks the actors why they want to be rockstars and everything he says sounds disloyal in a way and there are lines which sound very twisted, especially in Javed Akhtar's line which says that there's no point living in the comfort of a house when you could be a rockstar in your own time. Of course, we don't understand the line completely, but we feel that Akhtar has offended the audience by saying this.
