Ten years after it first hit the airwaves, "Aqua" was one of the most popular videos of 1990 and its progressive alt-rock sound would go on to spawn a mid-90s music industry phenomenon. But the record itself wasn't a mega-hit like many of their contemporaries; R&B legends Jodeci and Total produced the song that served as the highlight while electronic duo Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark penned the bulk of the record. Nevertheless, the record was the first to bring the aforementioned duo together, who would go on to compose the soundtracks of "Point Break" and its sequels. Take this as a career low for both artists, but always take this as the soundtrack's only true low with "Aqua".
While we at inkmocracy don't hold it against an artist when a discography is inconsistent and variable, we do wish there was a more consistent approach to our reviewing mission from artists. But without assistance from the public, we're forced to use a lot of criteria when describing each soundtrack, and the process is not an exact science. So sometimes a standout or under-appreciated soundtrack will slip through the cracks, only to be hardly remembered afterwards despite its pedigree. We hope we've been more careful than that, especially when a discography spans years and includes some of the oddest stuff imaginable. d2c66b5586
